As mentioned, Google will discontinue google chrome for Windows 7 and 8.1. During the announcement of Chrome 110, the company said that chrome users need to make sure that they are using the supported windows devices, at least Windows 10 version. After the support end on these two Windows does not mean that you will be unable to use Chrome. You can still use the older versions of Chrome, but the system will no longer receive new features and security updates.

If google pulls off Chrome's plug from your Windows 7 and 8.1 OS, you can go for another web browser. Not having access to chrome updates does not mean all browsers will do the same. If you are not a big fan of chrome's features, we can help you to get the best alternative web browser to use for secure browsing.

If you are still using the old versions of the Windows operating system, including Windows 7 and 8.1, you need to update to use google chrome in the coming year. Fortunately, you can upgrade your Windows operating system for free if you have the product key. For some reason, if you do not have a product key, you can purchase it to operate Microsoft Windows 10. It can cost you around $150 to $300.

As a Windows user, it might be hard letting Chrome's features and security go from your system. However, we have mentioned all the essential aspects to deal with the issue of google chrome Windows 7/8.1 end of support. If you want to enjoy all the upgrades and support from Chrome, there is no option better than updating your Windows operating system to Windows 10/11. In addition, if you don't want to spend your dollars to purchase a new license key, you can use an alternate browser.

The default browser of windows server is Internet Explorer. By default this blocks all connections which can make it hard to browse through the internet. You can follow these easy steps to install chrome which will be much easier to work with.

  • Google Chrome is the lightweight, fast, secure, free web browser from Google with a whole host of features such as the incognito browsing feature so that when you finish surfing the internet and close the browser all history and cookies are immediately deleted; the browser comes with a clean and simple UI as well a range of themes to customize the interface.Publicly released as a beta in September 2008 for Windows XP it came in 43 languages and was initially intended for public feedback rather than general use. Google Chrome 5.0 released in December 2009 was the first stable cross-platform release supporting Mac OS X, Linux as well as Windows operating systems. Up until the official stable release Chrome went through many bug fixing stages and updates due to the feedback received while under beta; Google Chrome 6.0 updated the UI and improved the Omnibox feature which allows users to type both web addresses and searches in the address bar. Version 8.0 came with an update to the synchronization feature expanded to include web applications as well improved plug-in handling. Leading up to the latest stable release of Google Chrome 17.0, features include a task manager for all open websites within Chrome which shows you how much physical memory is used by each website, visual browser history which shows a list of thumbnails of the web pages visited in the history results; more importantly security and privacy updates which make browsing the internet safer with alert pages for malicious websites and sandboxing which prevents malicious software from installing itself on your PC. Google Chrome is compatible with Windows XP/Vista/7, Mac OS X and Linux. The current latest version of Google Chrome 17.0.963 has been confirmed as the most stable version; there are no reports of security vulnerabilities or major bugs. Older versions of Google Chrome are still functional but are not supported with technical updates from Google anymore. There is a whole range of plugins and apps which you can add to your Google Chrome browser such as the Evernote plugin which allows you to save and organize all your notes and tag interesting webpages while browsing without leaving the website. The Prezi plugin is a great app for creating presentations or slideshows similar to PowerPoint but Prezi is web-based and easier to use.Pros: Light on PC resources, fast browsing, secure, simple UI, search through the address bar, support for extensions.Cons: UI not as easily customizable as Firefox, web developers prefer FirefoxOther Internet SoftwareAmerica Online

It is just the same Google Chrome browser that you download from google.com/chrome. The download and installation went pretty smoothly. I use Chromesync, so getting everything back, including my extensions and passwords, was easy and smooth.

For anyone upgrading to the New Windows 10 and if you are using Google Chrome as a browser. If you were using Chrome in Windows 8.1 after upgrading to Windows 10 it will not work so just be aware ! To solve this issue, you can Download Google Chrome Canary (Version :46.0.2471.0) 64 Bit. It worked for me and was mentioned in another post by (Anna Zdunkiewicz) to try and it worked ! I am sure Google or Microsoft will correct this issue in the future. You can get Chrome Canary at or go to google.co.in./intl/en/chrome/browser/canary.html

I have a surface 2 8.1 RT and chrome. I have been toying with downloading Windows 10. I recently bought a chrome book and when I read on a chromneboiok description that you could download to windows 10 I did a search and landed here, My new chromebook box is not even opened yet it is a toshiba chrome book 2. I was sad to read that chrome DOES NOT support touch screen. I feel like I jumped the gun buying a chrome book before researching it. It will remain in the box untouched until I decide what to do. I also like touch and have gotten very use to it. So you are able to use touch on microsoft stuff but not chrome from my understanding,

Good news. Chrome is available for RHEL7.Just download and install the 64-bit RPM.Even though Chrome's website says the RPM is only for Fedora and OpenSUSE, I tested it on RHEL7 and it seems to work fine. Flash content even works. And the repo was successfully added (/etc/yum.repos.d/google-chrome.repo).Here's a screenshot:
